Bio
In the seat of my scooter you will find a tablet of paper and a bag of pens. Here lies the beginning of most things I create. All plans, ideas, processes and desires can be manifested as drawings. It’s about the things you want to put together, and the time you have.
From my days as a caricature artist, to my days as an independent software developer, one thing that’s remained constant is drawing. You work first with primitive tools and basic ideas, and sometimes those ideas transform into something else. And sometimes you just have the drawing.
In my earlier days, I worked as a professor teaching visual thinking, photography, and foundation design. Sometime shortly afterward, I taught myself basic PHP, MySQL and Linux administration, and started Icompendium in 2004. These days, I am a full stack engineer who still loves to make things with code. I also spend a good chunk of time looking for new roads on my scooter, and making drawings at stops along the way. You can find my artwork left behind in random coffee shops in Taiwan, Japan, Portugal, Washington DC, New York City and Tennessee. Sometimes, the owners will hang the drawings up. Other times they go straight into the bin. That’s how my studio works as well. Time goes by, a drawing appears, you decide what belongs, what needs to be tossed out, and you keep working.
